Social Science and Legal Policy: The Case of Heterosexual Cohabitation

Bowman's research examines the social science literature about heterosexual cohabitation and concludes that unmarried couples together for two years or with a common child should be given the legal rights and obligations attached to marriage.

This workshop will focus on issues of child support requirements, parenting programs, race/ethnic differences, social capital, juvenile fathers and the meanings of incarceration for fatherhood and citizenship.
